Help me raise $1500 for North American Missionaries!!!

For the past four years, as I’ve cycled the sun-dappled backroads of Coffee County and neighboring counties, the rhythmic whir of my tires and the scent of pine have been a backdrop to a persistent question. How could I combine my love of cycling with the Great Commission?  I’ve imagined going on bikepacking trips carrying the gospel to foreign places. This dream is not an easy endeavor to realize for a husband, father, and pastor of a congregation.

I’ve been praying about a future trip, but a few weeks ago, while cycling, the idea of helping send others to the mission field occurred to me. In the past, I participated in fundraising for causes like fighting childhood cancer, but what if I pedaled miles for missions? With the Great Commission Team at Morningside launching our promotion for our annual Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, I pitched the idea of having our members sponsor each mile I pedaled in the month of March.

The 316 Mile Challenge was born!

Last Sunday, I unveiled the plan to ride 316 miles in the month of March to my congregation by riding my bike into the sanctuary. My hope in doing this was to inspire them to stretch themselves and reach beyond the walls of our church by sending church planters around North America.

Annie Armstrong (1850–1938) was a dedicated Southern Baptist missions advocate and the founder of the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). She was renowned for her efforts in rallying prayer and backing for missionaries, both at home and abroad. Her impact endures through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, which supports church planting and evangelism in North America.
