Earlier, I mentioned I was writing a survey of the New Testament. This massive task made me think about why I am writing it. Here are three reasons I’ve come up with.
1. Deepen My Understanding of the New Testament
To write a good New Testament survey, one must rigorously study the Scriptures, their historical background, and theological concepts. The process of organizing and explaining these truths will only enhance my comprehension of God’s Word.
2. Equip Others Through Teaching
Writing a New Testament Survey will aid in my teaching others about the overarching message and relevance of the New Testament. A resource crafted with a pastoral tone can both mentor and inspire believers’ spiritual growth.
3. Strengthen My Faith and Ministry
My writing will challenge me to grow in faith, deepen my theological understanding, and better prepare me for my pastoral pulpit and classroom teaching ministry. This project is mutually beneficial for both the reader and me, as it embodies the principle articulated by Seneca the Younger: “Men learn while teaching.”
