Have you ever considered the symbolism of baptism? It’s more than just a religious ritual. Baptism is a declaration of transformation. The act of being immerse water symbolizes our unity with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It reminds us that we are no longer enslaved to sin but have been raised to newness of life.

In Romans 6:1-4, Paul paints a vivid picture of what happens when we come to faith in Christ. First, our old life is buried with Him in death. Baptismal immersion represents the believer’s symbolic death to their old, sinful life. The waters acts as a “liquid tomb,” which points to the believer’s union with Christ’s burial.

However, when the believer emerges from the baptismal waters, they are symbolically raised with Christ, joining the joy and glory of His resurrection. They are called to walk in this newness of life. This isn’t a future promise but a present reality. The same divine power that resurrected Jesus empowers us to live free from sin and with purpose.

Are you living in the fresh start He’s given you? If you are struggling, ask God to empower you with the resurrection power of Christ.
