My day included a lively preaching workshop, insightful discussions with BCM leaders, and a captivating basketball game. The Smyrna Baptist Association invited Dr. Kyle Walker, a former Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary preaching professor and now senior pastor of First Baptist Cartersville, to conduct a workshop for local pastors on preaching the narrative portions of Scripture. Dr. Walker’s presentation inspired me to try new approaches in my sermons.
After the training session, the association fed the attendees Chick Fila sandwiches. I ate and ran to Davis Hall at South Georgia State College to train the BCM student leadership in personal evangelism. I led the group through John 4 and shared how Jesus evangelized, borrowing a great deal from Ray Comfort’s Way of the Master. The leadership of the BCM was appreciative and I look forward to some more apologetics training with this group of believers
Finally, I ended the evening with an electrifying basketball game. Unfortunately, my beloved First Academy Lions walked away with a narrow defeat by three points. The day offered a mix of spiritual enrichment, leadership training, and entertainment, making it a busy, but well-rounded and fulfilling Saturday.
