I’ve stumbled upon a little piece of happiness, at least for me. And it was from the most unexpected source that I received this revelation – a dog named Banjo. Banjo is one of the most demanding and exasperating canines in existence. He is always on the move, barking at me even when I am comfortably settled in my recliner. And if that doesn’t grab my attention, he resorts to nipping at my toes. Furthermore, we are constantly on high alert when he is outside, as he has a peculiar fondness for devouring chicken poop. He is interested in everything and anything that comes his way.

In what way does he bring me joy? It’s the way he leaps and twirls like a spinning top during our walks. The way he runs ahead, looks back, and comes running back with ears flopping. The pure joy he radiates while walking with me around our property leaves me utterly perplexed. I can’t help but imagine, if possible, bottling and selling a fraction of his energy to Georgia Power. It might replace Plant Hatch and a few other nuclear facilities.

Life is busy, and it’s easy to neglect simple pleasures. But this morning, I want to encourage you to take time to walk the dog and discover a little happiness.

PS: Right as I was about to post, I paused to let Banjo inside. He ran to Amber on the couch, and with expert agility, stuck his paw in her coffee, spilling it everywhere. O’ Banjo!
